James Goss's Doctor Who - The Blood Cell Review

Image
What Caught My Attention - Oh. This. Cover. It just looks so promising! I bought this  thinking it would be absolutely amazing, with stunning descriptions, mind visuals and story line. But was it? I mean look  at it. Can you honestly judge a book by its cover? Let's find out...           I needed to give this book a try. And did I try.  I knew when opening this novel, that the Twelfth Doctor would be featured. I loved the Twelfth Doctor. and I knew they would never  accept a book from a writer that couldn't capture Peter Capaldi without him not feeling like The Doctor.           First off, this book is in first person. And you're not  playing as The Doctor. Or Clara for that matter. You're playing as The Warden of a prison who likes to go by the title 'Sir.' This prison holds the worst of the worst in the galaxy. It's isolated, it's cold, it's painted only gray for the "moral" of the prisoners. And everyon...

Terry Pratchett's Guards! Guards! Review

Image
What Caught My Attention -      At first I didn't know how I would feel about reading a book redundantly labeled, Guards! Guards! The cover was plain green, yellow and has a strange illustrated small dragon on the cover (NEVER judge a book by it's cover, never) . This book was loaned to me by a co-worker of mine, Rob. He informed me to read the dedication page before I started to read the entire book, because it would give me a feel of Terry Pratchett's humor.                   It did. Why I Continued Reading -       When I first started reading this novel, I read it with a tone of seriousness. Little did I understand, the small joke in the dedication page, was the humor throughout the book. The reason I didn't take the beginning so seriously for the rest of the book is because, our novel, Zathena and the Sky Pirates had an underlying tone of humor, yet it was very serious...

Isaac Asimov's Nemesis Review

Image
What Caught My Attention -      This book caught my attention in a different way from the last review I wrote. It wasn't about the cover this time around. Even though if I were alive in the 80's I would have been all about this cover. Its colorful, and captivating with the settlement Rotor. The planet Erythro in the front bottom of the cover, and Satellite Megas floating menacing in the background both circling the red dwarf star Nemesis. It's so interesting. I won't lie it does make me want to read it. But the main reason I wanted to read this novel is because Dr. Kit August told me it was written similar to my book, Zathena and the Sky Pirates . So just how is it similar? I had to read it to find out.      The first chapter right-off-the-bat caught my attention because the dialog and story telling was magnificent. Marlene  is the name of the first chapter, and with it set off my curiosity to this brand new world. Marlene i...

Why I "play" With Dolls

Image
Why I "play" With Dolls "You're too old to be playing with dolls." "Are you buying that for your relative?" "Why would you waste your time and money with those things?" "Go play with your dolls!"      These are just a couple of the sarcastic rude remarks I get on a daily basis because of the collection I have and continue to grow. There are several reasons why adults are ALLOWED to "play" with dolls, and if you think any of them are an excuse to be "weird", or "not-normal"; then stop reading you're in the wrong part of the internet.        I'm not going to start off with "The box says 3 AND up! I'm up!" or "If you're not childish you're boring" Because I've seen a couple of articles with countdowns that list those as their reasons why and ... those ...

Abney Park's The Wrath of Fate Review

Image
What Caught My Attention -     This is easy... the title says it all, ABNEY PARK!!!                                                            Once I read that, and found out YES Captain Robert Brown DID write this book, I was all like-                                CAPTAIN,              Another thing, I have the second edition because, LOOK AT DAT COVER -                          ...

Become Like Emma Frost

Become Like Emma Frost Emma Frost is part of the X-Men , a mutant with telepathic abilities. She can broadcast and receive thoughts and even alter perceptions and memories. There are more skills that Emma possesses, and you can read about them here -> Marvel Wikia However, we are only going to focus on these four. What if I told you that obtaining these four abilities and becoming like Emma Frost was as easy as picking up a novel and reading its content? Let me explain: Receiving Thought and Broadcasting Thought      This isn't as strange as it sounds. In fact you're doing it right now. These words were never said, but thought. True I'm the one letting you read my thoughts by publishing my work on Blogger . But wouldn't that be the same thing as being around a telepathic mutant? If you knew someone could hear your thoughts, you would try to monitor your own thinking. I'm sending these words and allowing you to read them just as I would around someone ...
